Since launching our affiliate reward scheme we’ve been surprised at how many applications we’ve received amongst private general practises rather than training schools or existing customers and I suppose on reflection I can see why.
Once you register for the affiliate scheme and place a link to our shop from your website, we in turn will naturally link back to your site which boosts both our rankings in search engines. Besides receiving your own affiliate code and A6 flyers, the chance to earn money or pass it on, it means a reciprocal link on a hub site such as Soundboard can help boost your own message too.
We are more than happy to support this kind of ingenuity and hadn’t realised it would be popular simply for this reason. If you would like to take advantage of this, whether you wish to recommend the Soundboard directly or not, consider registering at http://www.soundboarduk.com/join-affiliate.html
Now launched for over a year, we’ve decided to make some changes to the Soundboard offering. Previously we showed the systems as the Soundboard, Soundboard CD & Soundboard CD Live. This was done to highlight the difference between people who may have static CD recording facilities such as a CD recorder, people who could record onto a PC or laptop and those that wished to record onto a portable digital recorder and travelled with their system.
The feedback was that it wasn’t clear which system you required, so we’ve made some changes that make it simpler and further improve the Soundboard’s value for money.
With the three system types dropped, we now offer just one Soundboard system that meets nearly every need. It includes a USB connection cable to play and record with a PC and includes simple software to record your live sessions. A detailed guide to recording with editing software means it comes complete with everything to get going straight out of the box, including cables that will allow you to connect to most other devices. We include an hours worth of royalty free music, an audio tutorial and on top of that have effectively slashed the price of all of this to £349.95.
For people that wish to record from their Soundboard without a PC, but still want to make to make use of software that creates CDs for you, we offer the iKey digital recorder. Bundled with our own CD creator software, additional microphones and with the ability to hold over 16 hours of recordings, you can carry it with your system if you travel to appointments. Possible to be used on its own to record ambient conversations without headphones, it’s available now at £199.95
Previous Soundboard customers without a USB cable can upgrade their system to make use of the cable and software by purchasing the USB cable kit at £49.95.
Our low volume, custom printed blank CDs for your recordings remain the same as do the other accessories and music catalogue.

Several years ago, I used to be my own worst enemy. There would be times when I would have loved a client to spend more time absorbing suggestions, or even reflecting and finding value in metaphors that I had created for them and would often suggest that I create them a CD to use at home.
Great idea! Though every time I offered it, I would under estimate by a long way just how much time this would take me. In the end the client got their CD and duly benefited but there was no way I could charge them the true value of the time I had spent making it sound good. The perfectionist in me was just not happy sending them a CD with glitches or mispronunciations and spent a long time editing tracks before I felt comfortable producing a CD.
This changed when I started recording the sessions that I delivered during their appointment time. This meant I didn’t have to replicate the work twice and felt more natural delivering
Research conducted Dr. Teow-Chong Sim and colleagues at the Sam Houston University of America in early 2001 have been in the news again recently.
Dr Sim’s study showed a difference between the way we hear through our left and right ears, due to the way differing sides of brain handles information from each side. It is suggested that the right brain hemisphere, which is responsible for big picture thinking, is better equipped to access memories, emotional arousal and senses. The left is more logical and analytical with a narrower focus on content. This bias is mainly shown in right handed individuals, with left-handers showing a more balanced capability in each hemisphere. This difference can be shown in stroop tests and the like when considering non verbal inputs.
Brain bias is a flexible thing and there are numerous accounts of stroke victims that have lost functions of speech or tonal development to regain them as the non affected side begins to adapt and accommodate the missing modules over time.
Regarding auditory signals, the right-brain hemisphere is superior to the left when dealing with music, metaphorical and figurative speech, sequences of verbalized events, verbal stress and intonation patterns, and human non-speech sounds. The left-brain hemisphere is superior in processing spoken words, numbers, and nonsense syllables. The latter being perhaps the majority of which comes from my mouth - most of the time!
Dr Sim’s studies focused on recall of emotional and neutral words, delivered through headphones to the left and right ears individually. The words were delivered without intonation. Subjects recalled emotive words more successfully when hearing them in their left ears (69%) compared to their right ears (56%).
It suggests that declarations of love, jokes, or words of anger are best remembered when they are heard through the left ear (right brain bias), while instructions, directions and non-emotional messages have more impact on the right side (left brain bias).
Using headphones and pan controls, are you already using a Soundboard to deliver your sessions in this way?
What are your experiences of incorporating this with clients?

For many people, once they get their Soundboard out of the box and begin to play around the very next job they want to do is add more music onto the Soundboard memory card.
For some while now we’ve had a free movie download in the training section of the shop that shows you from live screen shots how to transfer music from a CD onto your Soundboard memory card. Many people had faced some difficulty in getting their music into the MP3 format which is used by the Soundboard’s MP3 player. The video show’s you how to do this using Media Player from Microsoft.
However, for the PC windows users out there, we’ve done one better. We now have our own CD ripper available to download from the same section that quickly and easily allows you to insert your memory card and copy music from CDs to memory card without any additional complication.
The software is in it’s first BETA release, so we’re looking for customers to trial this on as many different PCs as possible, so that you can help us to iron out any bugs.
Visit the training section in our shop for more details.

When we started Soundboard Simon and I wanted to create a place where anyone who had an interest or something to give or learn about the power of music, language and sound can come together and share it.
It's a place where we hope you could join us on a journey, linking these subjects together in a way that helps you and those you work with.
Please add your views by posting a comment or why not consider adding your own article.
Best regards
Matt & Simon
